  • About to take the plunge ... i think. [Advice needed from the experts ..]

Good evening all, so i think i am ready to take the plunge. Years of dithering and putting this off, i was diagnosed with OSA a few years back I think I was moderate on the scale of things. i dont have the results to hand so apologies, but i guess coming to my mid 40s i want to change things up.

I hear the success stories, and wonder could i wake up with that zing in my step and not feel tired. The skeptic in me thinks the tiredness is due to age and just being lazy - but it does get bad, every day i will be in my office and before i know it i am slumped in my office chair fast asleep from what can be 15-45 mins and oh man when i wake up the level of grogginess is like i am coming off morphine - not that i would know :]

Take my kids to footy and sit down for a bit and end up having an impromptu nap on a blazing hot day in the afternoon ... ok as i type this out clearly i have problems.

And apparently my sister says i am doing this new where i snore with my eyes open, so i am not sleeping. its like the onset of a sleep is about to kick in but i am awake. Bizarre. But the snore sounds comes out like i am dozing off.

So where do i start? Should i start measuring events? i started using a watch thingy and some apps to measure events and they definitely started recorded events during sleep but i wasn't diligent enough and besides i think it was a case of, i think i know i need this so what more will the data give me that i dont know already?

OK Devices - a cursory look on the interweb [google and you tube reviews] and it looks like Resmed 10 or 11, the former seems to get good reviews and comes in at a good price point so seems the way to go, something like this: https://www.intushealthcare.com/prod...a895edcba1056b

Masks - havent really given them much thought and i think the above doesnt come with one. It would be nice to get a TRY-BEFORE-YOU-BUY thing from RESMED on one of these things, is that even a thing?

Thanks all, comments welcome, go easy on me, first timer and all that - am i going about this all wrong? Btw i read the newbie thread on this forum and that was also very helpful.

    Sweet dreams my peeps.

    Good Morning

    Thank you for your post.

Can I kindly ask what year you did your sleep test?

If you would like to email me at [email protected] then I can send you some information to help you to look at the CPAP machines and masks, and then we can discuss any questions you might have.

We offer mask fit insurance with our mask, so if you opt to take out the insurance with the mask when you purchase it, this gives you 28 days to try the mask at home and if it is not suitable then you can return the mask for a refund of the mask price.

        Good Morning,

I cannot see the attachment or image on your post but I am guessing that you had a good nights sleep and noticed the different since using the CPAP machine. If this is the case then that is great news. I am so pleased for you.
