  • CPAP Compliance Issues

I am having issues meeting compliance for insurance due to the fact that I have 2 jobs.

Job 1 is a day job in which I get off at 4pm.
Job 2 is Friday Saturday Sunday and Monday nights from 6pm-6am.

I set with a 95 year old woman. Yes I can sleep while she sleeps but she is up multiple times with confusion and bathroom. This mask would terrify her . So I'm only able to use the matching on Tuesday Wednesday Thursday night when I am home. I did use the mask during naps. The days I work. The 2nd job I'm only home around 1 hour before work.

    Good Morning,

    Thank you for your post.

Can I kindly ask whether your sleep apnoea is mild, moderate or Severe? Do you know if your sleep apnoea is worse when you sleep on your back?

In order to get the best out of your CPAP therapy, we do recommend using your CPAP equipment every night.

Can you advise which CPAP machine and mask you have, just in case I can suggest something that could help.

If for any reason you do not want to post your reply, you can either message me on here or email me at [email protected]

Ideally you should have five hours on the machine or more every might and have a low event count of under five. I got my count down to 0.3 but I do have the bad night now and again.
Using it when you nap will help, however, the machine counts its day from 12 midday to 12 midday, so if you have a nap in the afternoon it will count towards the next night, if you see what i mean.
I had one day that had a half hour on it and it was only later that the penny dropped, I had had a bad nights sleep and had finally got to sleep at 7:30am and I woke up at 12;30 midday and looked at the machine to see how I had slept and it said I was only asleep for half an hour? Then I realised it started a new day at 12 noon. Basically, if you sleep at all, use the machine, even for snoozing.

        Good Morning,

        Thank you for your post.

The CPAP machines are designed to be used at night when you sleep. So if you are using it for naps, then this will throw the data out. We have a couple of customers who have the same issues.

However if you are using the machine as many nights as you can and keeping your AHI under 5, then you are doing well.
