  • BreatheX Mobile CPAP - Worn on Shoulder

Getting closer now to actually buying the BreatheX Journey CPAP, I visited the manufacturer's website again for some of the in-depth little details only CPAP mad people like us would ever be interested in. That's when I stumbled upon the Journey's little sister, the BreatheX Mobile.

Check out the unique design on this little baby!

    PDF here.

I can't make my mind up whether that is good or bad, cosey or uncomfy etc. What do you make of that design? It's innovative, no one can deny that. Would be ideal for long haul flights or as a passenger in the car.

I've joked before that CPAPs will get so small, they will one day be built into the mask. This is a step towards that wearable principle.

    Hot or not?

Looks interesting, particualy on long journeys when you have to sleep sitting up. I would not like to wear it in bed. Turn over and brain yourself with one end!

LOL yeah, but as in the 3rd little pic, you can of course put it above the pillow or on the bedside table. Wearing it is not a definite requirement. The cover also better be easily washable, especially in the summer.

Breathex Journey to USA with Virgin

Just purchased Breathex Journey from http://www.eu-pap.co.uk/index.php. Fantastic service and backup, highly recommended.

Used the machine in earnest on trip to USA. Very light and portable, easily used on the aircraft. It is approved by Virgin for use on board which I did with no problems. Charged during the day and lasted 9 to 10 hours at 9cmH20.

I would recommend this for long haul travel and weekends if you don't want to take your main machine with you.

Great backup from both the british supplier above and Viasys if you have any queries. The MD of marketing picks up your emails on his Blackberry and responds very quickly.

                      Sensible

And I thought I was being helpful and joining a sensible site. Pardon me for thinking so. Nothing like being shouted at on your first posting. Ah well, takes all sorts to make a world.

For the saner amongst you check out the supplier, honest and professional, which is more than can be said for our porcine fancier.

                        Hi Topcat,

I am thinking of getting myself one of those as we've had a couple of power cuts in the last 2 weeks and it would also be handy for holidays.

One question, did you adjust the altitude setting on the plane and if you did what did you set it to?
                        Regards, GV
Given up my ResMed S8 Escape and got myself a Sandman Auto from James!

I was advised just to turn it on. It only has two settings on and off. If you have any detailed questions then go to the Cardinal Health site and the Breathex Journey page. If you then use the email/contact form your questions will go directly to Steve Birch who is the Marketing Director for the product. He is really helpful and supportive. I did have a battery problem in the first few weeks and a complete new machine was dispatched from the States within the week. I could only find one supplier in the UK which is why I used EU-CPAP but I suppose you could try a direct appraoch to Cardinal. Let me know how you get on. You get both the clinicians and user handbooks with the machine so its easy to vary settings. The ramp like the altitude is either on or off, it truelly is a basic machine for travel but is extremely light even with its battery in situ, small and extremly functional. Batteries are cheap too compared to other options. Good Luck TC
