Does anyone have experience with the Resmed Auto 10, please? I'm considering buying one and would appreciate hearing your opinions on them.

    ResMed Airsense 10 APAP

I bought one of these a month ago at their London Clinic - the 'For Her' version.

I use it in the 'For Her' mode: the machine is compact, reasonably lightweight and easy to use. It came packaged with both the normal slimline tubing and the climate control tubing, which is the one I use. It is nice and quiet.

Apart from the daily sleep report, which shows nightly duration used, AHI, mask seal (in my case usually resulting in the angry red face) and humidifier, you can scroll down to get more detail.

In the user options you can customise things such as humidification, which can be changed to manual from auto, thereby allowing you to change the temperature. You can also run humidifier warm-up. You can also change the data view to give you average stats for one day, one week, one month, etc.

I'm afraid that I'm not good at reviews, however, all I can say is that I'm very happy with my Airsense 10. It is the newest machine on the market and is designed and manufactured by one of the big players in the market. It has all the functionality that I require. (And it fits so much more neatly on my bedside table and is a thing of beauty!).

That said, I am still struggling with the therapy - I am very restless at night and keep getting very frequent and severe mask leaks, so much so that I've been advised to try using Nasal Pillows, despite being a mouth breather, as theses are less likely to move around at night. That, however, can't be blamed on the Airsense.

      Thanks for your reply, alical.

What use are nasal pillows to a mouth breather? Before you go that route, I recommend looking at your APAP pressure settings. If the upper pressure is set too high - or left at max - you are bound to get leaks if you have an apnoea, short of crunching your skull with tight headgear.

        Hi, Tigers Fan,

My pressure is currently set to a max of 10.2, so not very high and is being slowly raised in small increments, as it's believed to be too low. I've invested in a CPAPSeal Full Face Gel Liner from the States, but this helped for only a couple of nights - last night it kept slipping down my face - leaks spring up every few minutes or so...with the resultant stomach cramps from swallowing air.

Tightened up the mask straps as far as they'll go, so I'll see what happens tonight.

As for the nasal pillows mask...I'll have to get a chin strap before I even think about it, but when I was first given a CPAP machine it came with a dinky little nasal mask (made me look like a piglet) but my mouth kept opening when I tried to use it. I even tried taping my mouth shut with Micropore, but all that happened was that I managed to blow small bubbles out of the corner of my mouth!

I found Nasal Pillows good, however, that being said I am using very old ones as some of the newer designs are not to good (for me anyway). I hope to fine a good design yet.

I could still get the Nasal Pillows I use from abroad, but I would have to pay for them. I was told by the hospital that they could not find a supplier in this country anymore

I can still get the pillows themselves, but not headgear or any or the plastic parts of the Nasal Pillows

Hi Alical, it’s certainly worth experimenting with different masks and checking and re-checking the mask fit. I have found that leaks are not always a ‘mask-fit’ issue. A ‘normal’ pillow might allow your head to sink quite deeply and then a full face or nasal mask will be pushed sideways. I suggest buying a firmer, foam filled pillow designed for cpap use. Most also have a cut out on each side preventing the pillow from pushing your mask sideways with your head nicely supported.

Good luck. It’s well worth persevering until everything is just right.
