Hello again everyone. I have stayed away from here for a while due to frustration caused by everything CPAP. I had a nasal mask and that wasn't very good for me, then was changed to a full face mask and that leaked everywhere despite the face degreasing, shaving and everything else. So this was then changed about three more times and I was still having no luck. Then I had a problem with my sinuses being continually blocked. I got so disillusioned with the whole thing and almost gave up, hence not being here for a while. But I'm pleased to say that now that I have eventually got the right mask things are a lot more positive and I can creep back on here and join in once more. Anyway i'm off to catch up with all of your posts and see what I have been missing.

Great to hear it's going better. I think a lot of us experience real problems for at least the first month - I still get the occasional night when the mask wants to leak !
It's something that the hospitals don't really seem to tell you - ie expect this to be crappy and frustrating - and expect it to get so bad that you want to cry and give up. But yes it does get better in the end - once you've got it all setup right - with the right mask.
Hands up anyone who felt they could constantly go back to the clinic with loads of questions, ask to try tons of masks and keep going in to help get the mask right - I was given the impression that hey - heres the mask and machine go away and it will be easy.
Heres to restful nights - and welcome to the hose club.

Hi SteveW welcome back. I think most clinics use the suck it and see style of mask fitting. Should that be blow it and see? My clinic was very good and at times I went home with two masks to try. I ended up with a larger version of the first mask!Regards and Good Luck, Barry

Same here.... I have been trying 3 different masks over the last 2 weeks. The nurses at the Sleep Clinic don't seem to mind me coming back. They are doing their job most of the time with a smile, they are really professional. Their goal and mine is exactly the same, so they get me to try masks after masks.
It's frustrating to go back to the Clinic over and over, but ultimately when I have the right mask I will stay home

Hi guys. Yeah I know it takes time and will be well worth it in the end, it just gets very frustrating at times doesn't it? I am currently using a Fisher & Paykel machine and one of their flexifit masks. I seem to be doing much better with this new mask, but my sleep specialist wants me to try the hybrid mask when she gets some in later this month, as she is convinced I will like it better.

Ooppps - that didn't come out right - What i meant is that getting it right takes a whole lot of messing about - and whilst the clinics are happy to help - you can't really ring them every 5 mins ! - cause boy is it a right bug..r to get right.Originally posted by chelseauk View PostHands up anyone who felt they could constantly go back to the clinic with loads of questions, ask to try tons of masks and keep going in to help get the mask right - I was given the impression that hey - heres the mask and machine go away and it will be easy.
