I know this isn't strictly us but the battle for consistency continues. I fit baby gail (or apex 111 to give her proper name) and all her bits in my backpack so I don't have extra luggage but it would be good if airlines knew what to do without having to go through "special numbers"

I will never use Ryan Air again, because of their underhand methods. This lady was allowed to travel out without a problem, and then had a problem on the return flight.
We faced the same problem (not one as serious or disgusting as this though) about ten years ago, when I took my golf clubs to Barcelona. We were assured that they would go free in the hold, and sure enough when we boarded at Stanstead this was the case. When we returned two weeks later, we were told by Ryan Air staff at Girona, that we would have to pay 60 Euros excess baggage for them, or leave the clubs there. They are the most vile and deceitful airline out there.
