  • New machine purchase

For the last year I have been commuting between Glasgow and Holland and I'm thoroughly sick of carrying my machine back and forward with me so yesterday I decided to take the plunge and purchase an extra machine.

Looking at the machines out there I decided to buy the best I could and opted for SleepCube AutoAdjust Plus Auto-CPAP along with the CPAP Pro Nasal Pillows Mask and placed the order with Intus and the purchase seemed to go smoothly.
I checked my email today and I have received a response from them requesting either a letter confirming that I suffer from OSA or a copy of my sleep study report.

I have contacted my hospital in Glasgow and left a message with them to request the appropriate documentation, I also contacted my GP and now have to play the waiting game to see who returns my call first. Oh and my GP has stated that if they do supply this documentation there will be a charge for it, unbelievable.

I suppose I can see the point of Intus requesting this before completing the sale but what I can't understand is who in there right mind would spend all this money on a machine that is of no good to them.

Rant over! Not bad, 3rd post and I'm already complaining

Have a word with your GP's practice manager. It is usually the admin side that gums up the works, not your doctor. I expect you may have to pay (staff time, photocopier costs, etc), as you have to pay for virtually anything these days. Just don't make an enemy of them though.

It isn't Intus being awkward. If it is medical equipment it is VAT exempt, and to be classed as medical equipment you have to have been diagnosed as requiring it, hence the prescription being required.

I agree though, I can't imagine why you would want one if you don't have OSA, but then, that is the tax man for you!

If you have any correspondence between you and the GP or Hospital it may be of use, I think they need to see proof of existing use (I sent in the invoice for my last machine and my sleep study printout) - give Intus a call they are very helpful.

I got my Icon from them, once they got the proofs it arrived next day.

returned home last night and my GP has come up trumps.

All documentation is winging it's way to intus as I speak.

Hopefully have the new machine here for when I return home again next weekend

got the machine in yesterday, currently on no.2 attempt to get gumshield set properly on the cpap pro mask.

Got a half decent with the gumshield now, looking forward to going to my bed to try this out now.

Bought it from your clinic? Were these new machines at a deal price or their retired ones?
