  • Multiple CPAP machines and compliance

I've been using a Philips System One since August very successfully. However, I travel a lot and it's a bit of a pain dismantling everything each time I travel. Also over the Christmas period, the was the inevitable need for a post Christmas lunch nap and shared driving over long distances.

It would have been great to have a smaller portable machine, no need for a humidifier to have in the car (as a passenger) or to have a quick nap here and there.

If I was to buy another machine, either a duplicate System One, could I use the same memory card to capture compliance data (when I sleep in the hotel or on a long haul flight for example). Or if I bought a smaller machine, what happens with the compliance data it captures?

I bought my original machine myself but have since found my NHS sleep clinic provides the same Philips Respironics models. But if I went for something smaller by a different manufacturer, what would happen to the compliance data?

Any help would be gladly received.

    Chris

By all accounts, not capturing compliance data every single night (thus, consecutively) leads to a variety of complications - but nowhere near as severe as capturing it every night.

Look at the Apex machines for a travel rig.

    Respironics REMstar 'M' Series APAP.
Resmed Mirage 'Quattro FX' Full Face Mask with a 'Quattro' headgear.

I use the apex 111 as a travel companion and it works pretty well, had to add the humidifier to damp the whoosh noise a bit. If you use the humidifier as a standalone unit then tape the bottom up otherwise the pressure blows the base plate off (its meant to be used with a heater unit). Small and light enough for all bits to go in the bottom of my backpack and still fit book and small picnic on top. Memo to all....not all hotels have a plug beside the bed, either check or bring an extension cable with you, or you might spend the first night of a holiday sleeping on the floor near the tele socket until you can get to to hardware shop. Not fun !! Also always remember any adaptors you might need for any and all combinations of plugs , cables and wall sockets.

I agree with your hotel comment if France earlier this year the only plugs were in the bathroom one over the toilet didn't feel like electrocuting myself so had a very restless night that was in 2 different hotel chains.

          resprionics system one

          hi chris
i also use the same unit as yourself but if i travel in the car i have a spare hose and mask together with a 12volt cigarette plug lead in a bag already. i then just take off the humidifier and just take the fan unit leaving everything else in the bedroom only takes 5 seconds to disconect
