  • Not sure....!

Well i have had my CPAP machine a year now! At first i wore it religously for 6 months. I had my first check up in october and then went on holiday in November. I took my machine with me but the plug sockets out there werent really what I would call safe.... the first night the power went off and the second night I woke to a crackling noise coming from the socket on the wall....
This is when my problem begun.... Because I did not use my machine for 2 weeks I got out of my 'habit/routine'. Currently I try and wear it for 4 or more hours a night. often I find when I wake in the morning I have taken the mask off during the night without knowing I have done so or I manage about half hour before it annoys me and I take it off. I am not wearing it every night like I should be. last night I manage nearly 6 hours.
I do feel the difference when I have worn it for say 3 days running, but I then get either lazy or annoyed with it.....

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

I too had a blip about six months after getting going and have spoken to one other that had a similar low about 6-8 months in.
It helped me to refocus on why I was using CPAP. I took some quiet thinking time to remind myself how tired and poorly I had been, I wrote it down on a page of A4, recalling all the health threats of not adapting to CPAP, and reminding myself of what can happen if I didn't adapt and get back on it. I read this a couple of times a day for a week and it renewed my determination.

You might try looking up serious articles about the recent lack of sleep weight gain research by Dr. Christian Benedict of Uppsala University in Sweden, its enough to renew anyone's determination.

      Best of luck!
