    2 month update!

Well two months in, and I'm still fine. Suffering my first cold/flu type thing at the moment but getting buy with OTC meds to stop the coughing (unpleasant with the cpap running) and a little menthol to ease the stuffiness (thanks to the BobMcL on this forum for that hint). More effective and cheaper than Lemsip!

Am still stats chasing - reviewing oximitry data every night but not needing to tweak anything for a few days now, am really comfortable and happy with my current setup.

Have bought some extra bits, hose huggie (everyone should have one), sleepweaver (beige, not pink) and ordered a longer hose (8 ft) as a couple of times have woken breathing from a tube with no machine connected (oops!). Considered buying a full face mask "just in case" but was pursuaded by the members here that spending the money on Champagne was a better bet - and I'm agreeing there too.

Important bit follows. I'm well. Sleeping only at night, not in the day. I can work 8 hrs and drive 4 hrs each end of that, go to bed and wake refreshed and ready for another day. I'm eating less and can make four flights of stairs without stopping for a break (was two a few months ago - I have set a target of being able to climb the 13 storey local hospital block non stop - no time on the target but I'll keep going until I can). I no longer have morning hypertension (the only thing my GP cared about) or wake in the night with panic attacks - instead if I wake I'm breathing more normally and am more relaxed than ever.

There've been bad and good nights - but now there's at least five good nights for every blip.

So the story so far is - money well spent on healthcare - I can work more, and better, and I feel like I've shed ten or more years off my age.

If you're reading this and just starting out - stick with it, spend lots of time in bed with your machine running and it will just become part of your life - now when people ask how I can sleep with a mask on I simply respond that I can't sleep properly without one.

My hope for the new year is that more people that are struggling with OSA and related problems can find simple and effective relief and enjoy what I'm enjoying now. I'll be joining the local support group as well.

To all on the Forum - Happy New Year, and thanks for all the help so far and into the future!

    Way to go, Symmit! Congratulations!

I could do with a bit of your 'how to' just now - the short days are playing havoc with my sleep pattern.

Thanks, Symmit - great advice in your PM.

I have the goodies lined up by my bed and expect a zonked night!
