I have my machine - yippee!!!!!

Picked it up the day before my holiday. It's a Resmed Escape S8, brand new, from my NHS Trust. Had a few problems getting it (see Introductions section) but got there in the end.

I carried it as hand luggage for my holiday, no problems at all. Things were looking brilliant for some decent sleep on holiday so I could enjoy time with my husband and 3 children during the day without falling asleep on them, when we looked for a plug socket in our hotel room.........

Only 1 socket, can you guess where it is?????

Yep, you've guessed it - as far AWAY from the bed as you could get!!!!!!

Tried it for 2 nights, but couldn't manage to sleep. I think I was hoping too much, to be able to use a CPAP machine perfect first time, in a foreign bed.

Never mind, I'm home now and as soon as I recover from this virus (really bad sore throat) I will be hooked up and looking like Mrs Vadar, desparate for a decent nights sleep. This should be tomorrow night.

I should add 'extension cord' to the travel tips list as I've heard it before (I believe they went on a cruise with just one socket in the bathroom).

Extension lead a must!!!!!

I know where you are coming from, my first night with CPAP was in a hotel in the UK before hopping across to France for a week. Nearest socket, across the other side of the bedroom, already in use for the kettle / TV / mobile phone charger - by some complete fluke, I had put a mains extension lead in the car. Now I don't travel without one.

PS - if you are planning a trip abroad, don't forget to get a letter from your sleep clinic stating that your "little" black box is a piece of medical equipment; also your CPAP machine / holdall can be carried as additional hand luggage, especially important if you are flying long haul (and using your machine!!).
