  • Giving up with NHS

Well, I have finally done it! I have contacted Respironics and will be joining their MOST plan, they give me a Remstar Auto M Series with C-Flex CPAP Machine with a Comfort Lite 2 CPAP Mask with a private consultant all for £30.00 a month!!

I know I should be greatful the NHS has given me a machine and a mask, but to tell you the truth the service isn't great. I have a ResStar 2 with them set to a fixed pressure, and sometimes I need more pressure than it can give and sometimes less. All they can do is give me a titration machine for 1 week to monitor my apnea and then give me a follow up appointment 6 months later to discuss the results!! I think this is quite poor, I do understand they don't have a budget, but this way I get a more personal touch as Respironics will monitor my apnea using a smart card which my NSH PCT cannot offer at the moment, also this way I give back my machine to the NHS and they can give it to someone else, I feel so relieved to be soon finally getting a good service and an hopefully a good monitoring of my apnea!

Welcome to the Remstar Auto M-Series with C-Flex owners group They are very nice machines, I'm sure you'll like it. And you've pointed out the number one reason to go Auto; you get continuous re-titration and adjustment. Combine it with regular smart card read-outs and you have a solution which offers rapid response to changes in your health.

How long will it take for your new kit to be delivered?

Great news, that's very efficient indeed.

James' Hissing Sid is one of many nick names for CPAP, in this instance referring to the air pump's airflow noise instead of the usual looks.
