  • All congested

I've been on CPAP now for about a month and have been fairly congested in the nose for the last three weeks. I understand this may be normal...?

Does anyone have any suggestions (if it indeed normal) on how to minimize this and what products may help (and which to avoid!)

Also a Newbie .. but this might help...

I too get congested or rather used to and its only a month or so for me too

I was recommended to use a product called Flixonase or a lesser one called Becconaze (forgive my spelling). They are both available over the counter and I am currently using Flixonase an hour or so before bed with some considerable success ... it doesnt clear your stuffiness as much as reduce your reaction to the CPAP ... it is normally used I heard for the releif of hayfever symptoms.

If neither of those work then there is a third stronger variety that I cant recall the name of but this one is only available on Prescription .... so see your GP and tell him your woes. No doubt your Sleep Nurses at the clinic can give more specific info though, so why not give them a call as well

        Beware of nose bleeds

If you use Flixonase or Beconase regularly.
I don't know what % of users it affects but I'm one of them.
Only had one nose-bleed since I stopped using the sprays since getting a SinuPulse machine (as recommended by Tigers Fan) a few weeks ago. I use the SinuPulse about every other day and it keeps my sinuses unblocked which is something I have always suffered from.

Thanks, I'm starting with the nasal spray. I'm just getting used to having a air-line up my nose. Not sure I'm ready for the jet wash just yet!

          Cheers all...

Indeed, you might want to read this:

If it's not about the actual CPAP machine or mask, it goes here. Discuss humidifiers, battery packs, tube sleeves, software and all other accessories.

A nasal spray is like rollerblades. Works for transport but quite a bit of effort and only gets you so far. The SinuPulse would be a car in comparison. Powered, gets you much further, more high-tech, better results.
