  • First night problem too!

I expected a difficult first night getting used to the mask, learning which position would be the most comfortable to lay in and to some extent it was a success. I do not feel claustrophobic and I can get to sleep. Sure I have a bit of a dry throat and yes I did up my nose mask too tight but I can sort these with a humidifier and working out the right adjustments for my mask.

My problem was that once off to sleep a pressure seemed to build up in my mouth and forcing it open in a kind of pop. This sudden release of pressure from my mouth woke me up time and time again. The Machine is with me on trial for a week to see how it works for me and is an APAP so that the clinic can work out what pressure to set my own to at the end of the trial.

Is this a common problem and is there a fix?
I am going to call the clinic tomorrow if this happens again tonight but wondered if you guys know of this.

A chin strap might fix it and a full face mask certainly would.
    Respironics REMstar 'M' Series APAP.
Resmed Mirage 'Quattro FX' Full Face Mask with a 'Quattro' headgear.

I struggled to get to sleep at all last night so the problem didn't have chance to come back. The clinic told me to stick with it tonight and get a full face mask if there is no improvement tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
