As I had boxed up my dehumidifier last night to be sent off I woke this morning in 70% humidity and serious rain out.
This had made me realise how important the room humidity is and I am considering buying another dehumidifier just to keep in the bedroom.

      Remind me

      Hi silvercarper

Please remind me - where the hell do you live?

I had thought UK but here 70% is ridiculous! Unless - do you mean 70% in your bedroom? In which case, what are the sources of water and heat in the room?

How many people are breathing in the room? How many CPAP humidifiers are in use in the room? Do you use a Teasmaid or similar? Any other water heater? Do you use parrafin or butane heaters in the room? Windows open or closed when you measured 70%? Any vapourisers for clear chests/lungs?

What is the humidity in an adjacent room when you measure 70% in your bedroom? And what is the outside humidity?

          I stand corrected.

          Hi silvercarper

You said humidity and that is what you meant. So you know if it's likely to rain or not.

I said humidity and meant relative humidity so I know if you are likely to get rainout or not and I could offer help with your relative humidity problem.

But you seem confident that you are managing just fine so I'll leave you to it.

I have this little model wooden country cottage which has 2 doors. In one door is a man wearing a raincoat and carrying a umbrella and in the other door is a women dressed in a light blue dress.
At present the man is outdoors and the women is sheltering inside.
Its only since I bought a hygrometer that i have realised how accurate this little cottage is.

              Umbrella

Hi Guys, I always heard that the UK was rainy, foggy, and wet all the time, or else snowing. Its beginning to sound like you need and umbrella inside too. Love those little cottages--knew an old lady once who had one--but hers lied a lot. Please, whats a teasemaid? Berneta

A teasmaid combines a alarm clock with a electric kettle.
If my memory serves me right you fill the kettle up and put tea in the tea pot before you go to bed. Set the alarm .
In the morning the kettle boils and the hot water goes into the teapot and when the tea has brewed the alarm sounds to wake you up to enjoy a fresh brewed cup of tea.
Have I got it right TF.

Thanks for the info--I think I need an English to English translation book. LOL I'll never tell you what I was thinking, Berneta

                    Teasemaid

We know fine well what you were thinking, Berneta!

Many moons ago - three and a half decades - I minded their shop for my mother. They had a Teasmade or Teasmaid and it worked just fine - provided you put the lid on the kettle part correctly. The kettle is pressurised by the boiling water and this forces the water over into the teapot part. The wake-up alarm sounds when the pressure switch under the kettle closes due to lack of weight acting down on it.

One night, I put the lid on wonkily (find that in your dictionary!) so the pressure didn't build so the water did not move over to the teapot so the alarm didn't go off - or not until the ketle had boiled damned near dry, anyway. I still had thirty odd years to go before I discovere what CPAP is - but we sure had rainout that morning, dripping from the ceiling. Humidity in the 90's.

                      Wonkily

                      HI TF,
I'm guessing wonkily means crooked--and if you had water dripping from the ceiling back then-- you did need an umbrella inside. LOL. Bet your mother wasn't thrilled either! I wish that using a CPAP could be easy for everyone--without all the sores, rainout, panic attacks, discomfort, and other problems. But here we are trying to live a decent life, and trying to get some help from each other--that alone must be worth something. While the rest of the world is making war with each other--we are trying to spread PEACE, and for the most part succeeding. I am constantly re-wording my messages so they won't be confusing to all of you. American English doesn't always sound like the British English either! In fact English in Northern States sometimes is very different from English in the Southern States. Our favorite word in America is "What?" x Berneta
