Very skilful, I enjoyed watching that. Sent it to some people I know who are waiting for equipment and who have shown interest in my husband's CPAP but not had the chance yet to come visit.

How long have you neem using CPAP for?

Started on machine on 4th June 07.

Took a couple of pictures, before and after a nights sleep showing water in the mask. This was a warmish night, when the temp. drops condensation increases to where is drips on me face.

No autographs yet, 155 views so far, Sat. 10/11/07. Just hope someone finds it useful, as I just enjoy helping folks in anyway I can.

Something Interesting I watched the other day. One of those autopsy programmes on C4, about how the body reacts to emergency accidents. They showed how the airway and lungs worked. They cut up a frozen human body length ways with a band saw! This was so they could show a cross section of the airways. They also removed the lungs and airway from another donor body showing you the structure and shape of the airway at the top end. The one thing that caught my eye was a demonstration that showed that when someone drowns they rarely have water in the lungs! There is a mechanism that automatically closes the airway when water comes in contact with it. This prevents air and water entering the lungs, people then die of lack of o2. They showed this by submerging the removed set of lungs in a water tank. Little or no air escaped from the airway, even when they compressed the lungs. This would suggest that any fluid in the lungs comes from within the body as a result of some other illness.

Interesting indeed. In general, the capabilities of the human body are underestimated, IMO. A lot of drugs and operations aren't necessary if only the people who think they need them invested time in understanding the processes involved in a healthy body. But then again, it's such a complex topic too, you can't fault those seeking the 'easy' way out. It could take a lifetime to understand everything.

Thanks Puffin for a really informative video. I’ve just been diagnosed and I’m waiting to be called forward to collect a machine from Harefield and I had so many questions no-one was able to answer. Your video has answered most of my questions and has reassured me greatly of what lies before me.
