Hi I am a newbie here but would like to pick your brains
I have a remstar auto with a dc power cord and I am trying to find out if this can be plugged into a 24v supply.
Normally all the vehicles that I drive are 12v but have recently acquired my C licence and the truck I am driving is 24v Hope you can help

Welcome to the forum.

It's not the cord you need to worry about - I'm sure a 12v cord will handle 24 v unless it is a very, very tightly specified cord.

As far as I am aware, the Remstar power transformer has a 12v dc output - which means the machine runs on 12v and NOT 24v. You can step 24v dc down to 12 v dc with a step-down transformer.

Google "24v dc to 12 v dc stepdown transformer 5A" or similar and take your pick. The '5A' is from memory of a different thread - you need to check the max power draw of the machine (on the label).

but it's very expensive and well over spec. It was the fact that it was 24v dc that I noticed. You won't need that wattage. I'm looking for a 12v dc inverter with about 300w - 500w output pure sine wave inverter, although a modified sine wave inverter might do it? And they are def cheaper!

Many thanks for your replies but have managed to source a 24v - 12v dropper from ebay, that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket, that gives me two 12v outlets totalling 8amps costing around £16.98 inc. p&p hope this might help someone else
