  • Remed s9

Hi I have a resmed spirt 2 this was so much better than any of the previous resmeds, in both cpap and apap modes, due to it having two motors, and being quieter.

Though I suspect the firmware could be improved.

Mine came from the hospital, after I hinted to them I needed this top toy.

However I see the new range including the s9.

Has anyone had any experience of these new boxs.

I have used the s8 auto for a year now with very good results, and like you read all the good reports about the s9 auto so i decided to buy one, I used the s9 auto for a month with the exact settings as the s8, at the end of the month I started to feel sleepy through the day again so swapped back to the s8 I am now no longer sleepy.

I have epr set to 3 and have sinse found out that the s9 blows 3cm less than your start setting mine starts at 10 so the machine blows at 7cm and does not go to 10cm till you breath in. I dont know if this is how the s8 works I think it blows 10cm then drops when you breath out, but going to try with an epr of 1cm and my start pressure at 11cm in my mind this should give me a start up pressure of 10cm blowing from the very start, I will try this for a month and see how it goes.

The climate line is very good and machine barely makes a sound.

I took delivery of my ResMed S9 AutoSet and Mirage Quattro FF mask on 29 June. I am extremely happy with my switch from the Sandman Intro and nasal mask I have been using for the past year.
My use of the Sandman and nasal mask was 'intermittent' to say the least. My wife complained incessantly of the whining noise (especially on exhalation) and I hated waking up almost every day (night?) of use with my tongue and lips 'glued' in place and unable to swallow because of extreme dry mouth. My wife's move out of our bedroom prompted my change of equipment.
The S9, by comparison, is a 'dream machine' It is super quiet and (for me) super comfortable and easy to use.
The Quattro FFM has taken some getting used to but after waking up a few times with bruised cheeks and bridge of nose some basic tweaking seems to have solved the problems and I am now finding it reasonably comfortable and mostly leak-free. The S9 Mask Test function helps and I don't quite understand the scathing comments I have read elsewhere about the 'green smiley' face / red 'frowny' face format. Overall the user interface is easy and intuitive.
The ReScan 3.11 software has also been hugely informative (although I admit that I'm still on a steep learning curve). Given that I had no feedback at all on my previous treatment regime the amount of information now available to me is astounding.
After five days of use I am a committed full-compliance fan of the S9. AHI is comfortably below 5 and all looks very positive.

(For the record I have no commercial or other interest in ResMed other than as an independant and objective user)
