I have, at long last, received a humidifier to use with my nasal pillows. Used it for one night and felt absolutely dreadful the next day. Almost felt as bad as I do when I'm getting pleurisy. this lasted a day then I felt better but had a very heavy cold. It can't be a coinsidence and I was just getting a cold anyway because of the way I felt before the cold developed. I don't think I can bring myself to test out the humidifier again once my cold has gone. Has anyone else had this problem? I think I am going to have to give up on the CPAP machine but that will leave me with a very poor quality of life, always too exhausted. I don't know what to do to help myself..............PS Yes, I did use boiled water in the humidifier!

I am sure there are more things to try.
What did you have the humidifier set at? Sometimes if it is hot I need mine set on the coldest setting ie: no heat, just the air flowing over the top of the water to add moisture to the air) other times if it is cold I have the temperature set higher so that the water warms the air. Don't presume you have to have it on or off, there are lots of middle stages and it is best to try them all to see what suits you best.
If anything I have had less colds since using my cpap and breathing through my nose has been a lot easier. Occasionally I need some nose drops if I am getting bunged up but that is only rarely these days.
Good luck and don't give up!

Hiya,
Try putting it down to 1 or 2, maybe you don't need so mush moisture. Remember that it can't hurt you. You probably had a cold coming anyway. I think I am just getting my first cold since staryting cpap so I can't blame it in on anything other than the cold virus.
