  • Please Sign Our Petition!

    Hello

I have recently been diagnosed with severe sleep apnoea (67 instances an hour on average) and have recieved excellent treatment from my sleep clinic (Royal Brompton, Chelsea). I have also discovered, however, that many people in the UK are not being treated, even when their sleep apnoea is severe, due to the NHS trust not allocating funding.

In light of this I have started a petition and would be very grateful if you could take the time to sign this and pass it on to your family and friends.

    http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/CPAP-for-all/

Many thanks and I hope to get to know you all the more I post

Hello, I would love to sign your petition. I am a British Citizen but live in France. Can you point me in the right direction if I have missed the relevent part to tick the box. Thanks

I was gently coerced to go down the private route to speed my treatment up. I have no personal grouch with that but it grieves me that there are so many, without funds available or who are terrified they will lose their driving license, that go untreated. How many accidents are caused by people needing treatment but are not able to.....

    Best wishes with the petition

Signed. I am lucky - my health authority is brilliant. But it shouldn't be down to luck.

        Hi Biggles,

Under where it asks for UK postcode there is a drop down box for expats

Sorry to hear that you were forced to go down the private route, it seems unfair. If I had been gently pushed to take that route I simply would not have been able to afford it.

There is, however, news on the subject. Due to the petition SATA and NICE have become directly involved and have advised that since they have put their guidelines on CPAP in to place it is now MANDATORY for the trusts to follow these guidelines and if they do not, they are breaking the law. Now that SATA and NICE are aware of the problems I think things will improve.

I have just joined a few days ago and would like to sign the petition. I have to wait about 4 weeks to get my machine but it has taken nearly a year to get outpatients appointment through last Dec 09 and then oximetry test mid Feb 10. I need to lose weight but have 2 total hip replacements, can anyone help with suggestions. I am 61 yr. old.
