Stopping Rainout forever

Hi everyone, Just got the New Respironics system one auto cpap. it's meant to stop rainout by sensing room temp. So no more water blowing in my face, or so the theory goes. As they are going to start discontinuing the M series lots of us have, I thought I would give it a go as my old M series has a lot of hours now but will make a good spare.
It arrived today so will try it tonight and see if it works, this could mean the end of heated hoses and sleeves for good. It probably will not be long before the NHS start dishing them out. Or other manufactures start selling the idea. So here's the heads up on it.
So while the winter is still here and it’s meant to reach -4 over the next couple of nights I will report back on how it works.

1st Night

Well tried it last night, Temp -1, not a drop of water in hose when I woke this morning. Going to be -3 tonight but seeing the hose was bone dry this morning I have a good feeling about this is going to work. I think this is going to be a good investment and the A flex pressure relief is far better than the M series could hardly feel any pressure breathing out.
Will report again soon on how it's going.

Was it supplied by the NHS or did you buy it privately? If SGH are issuing them out now I might just give them a visit.

Hi Gargler, I don't think Sgh will start suppling them until they stop the M series in the Uk, This is a import but I'm sure it wont be to long thing's usually follow on quite quickly once new models are being produced. Mine you I wont buy a Uk machine far to expensive LOL

2nd Night

Last night -4, and yes tube and mask bone dry again. This really does seem to work it was a good investment, Cpap is hard enough but this helps. Now all I wish is to find the perfect mask and I'll be happy. Thinking of trying the Respironics Fitlife full face mask, Different concept again, has anyone tried it yet? If so let me know what you think.

4th Night

All is still well with new machine, still no rainout dispite very cold nights. I presume no one has tied the Fitlife mask yet?. I have just ordered one from aboard so will be here in a couple of weeks. Just hoping this is my personal best solution to comfort and cpap. Will update you on my thoughts on this mask design once it arrives.
Also why are we ripped off so much in this country when it comes to cpap. everything seems half price elsewhere? Who's making the big profits?

new mask

Hi , I bought a new Fitlife total face mask but it leaked most of the night on the forehead ,I must say its very comfortable but the farty noises as usual kept waking me up,is their any solutions please. Thanks Joan

Thanks ElleCee, Let's hope it works better for me, Masks are a funny thing different masks work for differnet people! Have read a few reviews on USA websites and most rave about it. With all the masks I've had I have got past the leak problems so here's hoping. If not I will keep searching for the ideal one.

It will be good to know what you think before I go trying a different mask.
I dont have the money to try them and find out they dont work
Still, the one I have is ok'ish with a remzzzz thingy even if it does keep slipping and I spend ages in the night getting it all straightened out.

Only probelm I have right now is mild chest pains, not sure if that is to do with cpap or not. Had it for about 3 nights now. No doubt I will find out one way or another soon enough!

Hi ElleCee, the chest pains are probably just your lungs having a work out on cpap. It did that to me at the start but it soon go's once they get use to it.
I also think you learn over time how to get the best out of the mask you have after continued adjustments. I want to try the Fitlife for comfort, it's my aim to have cpap that I can put up with long term and not dread each night!. So for the sake of £64 it's got to be worth a go.

I'm very keen to learn how you get on with the Fitlife.

The reviews often mention mask movement (leaks) for side sleepers. From photos, I can't tell if it has wider 'wings' than say, a Quattro, my current favourite.

As you have purchased already, I'll hang fire for a while and see how you find the mask. It does look good, though!

........ the magic Customs code: - Medical Equipment 9018908500 . Needs to be on the Customs Declaration sticker on your parcel.

I've imported five or six times using that code and never paid Duty or VAT. (First time was a near miss as the import agents - Fedex - put an APAP down as computer parts and then tried to charge me for the VAT they paid. They got their money back from Customs by using the above code.)
