Respironics have supplied a R2 chamber and I used the humidifier the last couple of nights for what good its done.
Im still having problems. I have had one of my worst nights ever
It seems that when I have the humidifier attached the A Flex does not seem to work well and it feels that the APAP is not sensing my breathing.
My hospital is no help because they say they dont support humidifiers which is strange as they supplied it.

I am trying out another APAP, the same model and make as my previous one , and this seems promising . It seems more powerful so hopefully I should get some better sleep . I notice this one is a Ver 3 whilst the previous one was a Ver 2 so I wonder what the difference is.

From what I remember, the Remstar M series humidifier changed in several ways from version 2 to 3. The chambers have different seals; version 3 is now 12 v DC and also, the version 3 is supposed to be sensitive to your respiration and is supposed to deliver heat/humidity when you breathe in, as opposed to all of the time. It was also easier to open/close the version 3, and the seal between the 2 halves of the humidifier was fixed in place and less likely to be lost.

I think I will have to buy the newer humidifier.
Last night, because of my chest infection, I took the humidifier off and today ,despite my other problems , I feel better than I have done for a while.
I hope it works otherwise I will have blown £160 .

Could be I'm a mile off. I've never even seen a Mark 2 humidifier, only the chamber. But ......

The Mark 3 heats the water in the chamber according to the setting. '1' is a low setting and '5' the highest. Ther PAP air passes over the heated water and picks up moisture. A very simple, uncomplicated arrangement. It only heats (power on) when the CPAP is switched on.

The machine does the clever bit about adjusting air flow/pressure.

I have never seen a Mark 3 humidifier but I believe the internal pipe work on it must be circular. The Mark 2 has rectangler pipework with a restrictive bend.
The Mark 2 I have really seems to restrict the flow but works the same way as a Mark 3. Also its 240V AC powered.

Everything you say is true. What I'm not understanding is why you think a Mk 3 will improve your lot over a Mk2 unless you are still having problems with those seals. I hope you get better humidification - I guess I'm concerned for your £160.

What amazes me is that the seal on the chamber just sits on the pipework of the humidifier when the chamber is put in. No wonder they modified it.
