  • CPAP and Gallstones

    Hi All
I have noticed that when I was using my machine, I would get up with real discomfort in my stomach. I mentioned this to the specialist nurse at the hospital (Wythenshaw), and explained that I already have a hiatus hernia and the 'air' blowing in was'nt helping me. He advised me to get my tablet strength increased which it was. However, I have since found out that I have gallstones and need to have my gallbladder taken out. So, has anybody else suffered in this way? Due to the discomfort it causes, I dont use the machine-I would rather be tired than doubled up with pain. Is this an issue to be concerened about?

If you have OSA and you've (temporarily) abandoned the prescribed treatment, then yes, that's an issue to worry about. Untreated OSA is not to be taken lightly.

If the forced air remains a problem for you, you can look at CPAP alternatives that don't use air pressure. But hopefully the non-OSA problems can be resolved promptly so you can go back to treating this bad sleep disorder.

      Cpap And Gallstones

      Hi
Thanks for the advice. I have spoken to an aneasthetist due to the sleep aponea who recommended me going onto a nasal mask for the time being. I do have to go back to the sleep clinic in January and will be discussing this with them. I will be taking all your advice with me. Though recently the discomfort has not been as bad and I have got used to using the machine again. Never thr less-roll on March, thats when the gallbladder gets removed.
