Doea a humidifier help with sinus problems like post nasal drip or does it makes things worse. I dont want to spend £150 only to find it makes things worse

    Yes It Can!

    Hi silvercarper

In my experience as a long term sufferer of sinusitus - since CPAP breathing in general better, nose not blocked all the time, and no sore head - result!

I'm using a Respronics Remstar Series M c/w humidifier and it really does make a difference for me - I started without the humidifier and within an hour was so dry and blocked up my mouth felt like the bottom of a bird cage left out in the Gobi desert!

I run at a pressure of 8cmH2O with the humidifier set between 3 and 4

Hope this helps - could you ask your sleep clinic to provide you one on a short loan to try out before you splash the cash?

Anyway - take care and keep us posted - cheers

Dont be silly . They could not even supply a mask let alone a Humidifier.

Where are you SilverCarper? My clinic at Jimmy's (St James Hosp), Leeds, gave me a humidifier as I have sinusitis. They also recommended I get prescribed to me a steroidal decongestant spray to keep the nostrils clear and I use a saline spray, from Boots, the next day, which eases any raw soreness. They told me not to use any over the counter decongestant sprays as they are only for acute nasal congestion and can cause long-term damage. The humidifier has worked very well but I agree that if you could get a trial then you would be sure.
        Good Luck,
