  • A very nifty gizmo

Where did we have the exchange about going green and switching off at the wall socket? I thought it was in 'Heated Hoses' but apparently not. Anyway ....

If you want to switch off at the wall socket but you can't do that easily because the socket is way under the bed, there is a gizmo - been around for ages but I've only just discovered it - that enables you to do it while still snug and warm in bed!

Switch your heated hose on or off without pulling the connector; switch your CPAP on or off from your bed - it's easy!

Who would have thought? A remote controlled wall socket! They seem to be 240 V, 5 A max - more than enough to cover CPAP use, heated humidifier, heated hose. I've just bought a pack of three for £15.49 delivered - three sockets, single remote control (yes! yet another one!)

Google, eBay, Amazon each throw up a mob of them - remote contolled socket.

Watching the rugby on TV and it starts to get dark? Switch on the TV light without getting out of your chair!

Hmmm! maybe these won't help the weight/OSA problem - but seeing we have it already, let's make life easier!!

By the by, they just plug into the wall socket and then you push your plug into them. No wiring required. Plug and play.

Do you need a different remote for each socket or will one remote do a whole bank of sockets?

      Control is power!!

      Hi Les

I rather thought I'd hook you, being sure it was you with a socket way under the bed for your heated hose!

On eBay the maximum number of sockets I saw per controller was five. I think I read on another site that five is the maximum.

I have no idea how many sets of frequencies or channels are available in the controllers, but if controllers all have the same frequencies then the No. 1 button would switch on or off all the No.1 sockets in the house! Perhaps different brands use different frequencies.

What I do know is that a remote controller for my heated hose would have been cheaper than the remote switching system I installed! If I had known about them, of coiurse.

You are right, there is no way I go crawling under the bed each night, if I can find a remote that will switch off CPAP and heated hose with one action then I will probably get one

We use them in the office. Have one remote here for 3 of them so you don't have to flick a hundred switches when you come in. Definitely a good idea!
