  • Hose management

Been on CPAP for two months and have had three good nights of sleep so far Been a constant battle of adjustment, battling leaks, discomfort etc etc. You all know what I'm talking about Currently going through that phase of feeling even worse and getting even less quality sleep than before I started CPAP. To make things more comfortable I've been thinking of hanging the hose behind my head, with a bit of slack, so the hose doesn't tug on the mask when I toss and turn at night.

So how do people here manage the hose, do you have it suspended from a hook or something or just have it lying next to you? There's plenty of suggestions here at cpaptalk LINKS to Hose hangers and methods of managing the air hose

So how do you hang/manage yours?

I like the plant hanging gadget in one of those linked threads but I can't find it anywhere here in the UK. Here's the pic of that one. Very minimilist.

    This is also quite nifty:

I tried something simular when I first stated, soon went back to just letting it hang. I do roll around a bit during the night and have found my self in a tangle a couple of times. Even managed to pull the machine and humidifier of the stand once.

One draw back of hanging the pipe up is the rainout will run back towards your face.

Geuss I've been lucky so far as I've yet to have any kind of problem with the hose.

I'm a mouth-breather with a full face mask and don't use a humidifier. The machine sits in the drawer of me bedside table where everything is coiled up when not in use (the power cable just hangs out of the front but doesn't really stop the drawer from closing) and when in use the drawer remains open with the hose draped out of the front of it. The swivel on my mask is good enough that I can roll from right-side to back to left-side sleeping with no worries.

I use a Hybrid and it has this daft crowbar like tube connector. Too much movement and the mask gets lifted from my face. Other than that it's the first mask I've been able to live with so it's been worth experimenting with the hose positioning. The past couple of nights I've routed the hose above my head to prevent the mask pull. I know a lot of people with the Hybrid can't do this because the exhaust then blows onto the connector tube making a racket. Fortunately I wear earplugs anyway so I can't hear it.

A few plant hangers I found which may be able to do the trick for you:

And if the headboard is close enough to the wall, couldn't something as simple as this work? Some string/elastic band from it to hang the hose on, that could perhaps do the trick.

Will look at that. Looks like it would work. Chrome too

                  The girls have a solution

I'm told that a couple of scrunchies - you know, the elasticated bands girls use for holding a pony-tail in place - from a hook on the wall (as James suggested), do the trick very nicely.
