  • Adjustable bed

I have recently taken delivery of an electrically adjustable bed so that I can sleep with my upper body raised. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to sleep without accidentally disconnecting the mask hose. I have ordered some hose guides (yes the garden ones) which I am hoping to fix to the wall. However; I seem to be sleeping just as well maskless as I was be-masked before I got the new bed; so I think the strategy is working.

The bed is made by Sherborne and seems to be extremely well made; it has a 5 year guarantee and supports up to 25 stones.

    Hinged bed

I was told for my OSA I should raise the top of the bed but also for my DVT I should raise the bottom of the bed.
Do I need a bed with a hinge in the middle?????

      top and bottom

I raise the bottom of tye bed slightly as well because it is more comfortable and stops you sliding down the bed!

My wife is diabetic and needs to sleep with her legs raised. Our new bed is actually two 3ft beds joined together. Each half has two motors; one for the top and one for the bottom. The beds also have 2 memory buttons so you can store (say) your preferred sleeping position and another for reading/watching-TV etc.

        2 months on

One of the best purchase I have ever made; sleeping much better with head raised than before.
I occasionally can't use a mask due to nose bleeds or hay fever or a cold; having my upper body on an upslope really helps me get some sleep. I am going to get an oximeter next to check how much difference the cpap is actually making compared to just a raised bed head.

Bought a Huntleigh profiling bed many years back, almost didn't due to the cost, but I am so very glad I did. It simply maximizes my sleep!

Lots of other advantages too though!

            hose guides

Have fitted a hose guide to the wall above the bed head and it works a treat. Got a plain black one and it doesn't look too bad.

Are you saying the gap is big enough to get your CPAP hose end connector to pass through that hole?
I'm off to B&Q if it does!

                hose guide

The end of my Climateline hose easily passes through, the rollers on the inside help the hose move freely. The B&Q ones have a lime green centre so it depends on you decor; you can see similar ones on amazon, search for hose guide.

You really do mean a garden hose guide, don't you...

                      Sleeping positions

I now sleep suspended by a chain from the ceiling. I had to put in a JVC or whatever they call it to take my weight, but once that had passed building regs all went swimmingly well.

No problem with suspending the hose, as I suspend myself instead and the hose comes up from the floor.

I assume you mean you are suspended from an RSJ (Rolled Steel Joist), in which case you might want to check in your manual or with your clinic where your machine is supposed to be positioned. Albeit in a bed I also sleep quite elevated so at first had the machine at a lower level - things weren't quite right and checking my book my machine had to be level with my head.

That's the acronym RSJ! I never knew what it meant until now. But I was never any good at DIY. Why DIY when you can get someone to DITFY?
