  • Heated hose power supply

I bought a heated hose from Australia last year and I really like it - it makes a big difference to my CPAP experience. I know that quite a few other users here have one too. My problem is the AC adaptor which I got from Maplin - it works but it is like a brick and weighs a ton. On trips abroad so far I have just taken my old unheated hose - but this winter I intend to spend three months travelling and would like to take the heated hose - but the ac adaptor just takes up too much of my baggage weight allowance. Anyone know where I can get an adaptor that works with the heated hose but doesn't weigh too much?

    Power brick

I ended up buying an 'annoyingly big' adaptor from Maplin too; spent ages trawling the Internet for a smaller one to no avail.

      Ahem!

There's a very good technical reason for them being the size they are. If. like me, you bought the multi-secondary voltage job from Maplin, they have to be bigger yet.

I was unable to find a single output 1000mA 12V transformer at a reasonable price in UK. However, the heated hose used to be supplied with just such a transformer, albeit with Oz power socket pins - until I poked my ar in and demanded money back for the cost of buying the Maplin unit. After that, he stopped sending the Oz transformer with the hose.

The point of this is - you caould buy a slightly smaller transformer from the hose supplier - can't remember his name. You will also need an Oz pin to UK pin adapter. This will save some weight and volume - but not vasy amounts, I have to say. Unfortunately, I recycled the two Oz units I had, months ago.
