Review of CPAP Pillow.
What is it?
A specialist molded pillow designed for side sleepers.
Where can I see it?
What do they say about it?
Review:-
I'm a new cpap user of about 3 days - and a side sleeper - in fact I cannot sleep on my back! As such I ordered one of these via eBay so I had it before I started - as such I’ve not yet used my mask without it.
Basically it's a very soft foam pillow with indents where the mask goes and it does seem to work - you need to get your head into the right spot - which isn't hard to do and then the side pressure being applied to my comfort full seems to be reduced - in fact it seems to help the mask fit slightly. When you turn over the mask doesn't fit exactly into place (i.e. you need to move about a bit) - but you can really feel the difference between right and wrong. The cover is a little odd - a stretchy terry type material and it's a little soft, warm and annoyed me a bit - a normal pillow cover sorted that out.
The pillow is small so if you wander about the bed you may struggle - BUT with a mask perhaps it's a good idea not to. The ridge above the forehead in the pillow catches the masks forehead pad - but the pillow is so soft it’s not a problem also with the pillow being so soft it doesn't move the mask too much.
The bad side is that on my memory foam mattress topper it's just too darned soft for me and neck ache was an issue - you can't put a normal pillow under it to easily or it will deform - I fixed this personally by placing a flat bit of foam under it to raise it (about 1/2 inch tall). But that may be just me - personally I’d have like to see a two core pillow - so it was soft on top and firmer underneath.
Will I carry on with it - yes! No reason not to.
Who should get one: Any side sleeper with leakage issues caused by your pillow - (it's not going to cure ones that happen when you are sitting up or on your back) - or mask being pushed into your cheek issues.
Good: Molded sections seem to work pretty well. Reduces pressure on face a bit.
Bad: Foam pillow is too soft for me (so my neck ended up sore) but adding a small bit of foam under it fixed it.
7/10
Where can I get one?
As far as I can tell this is a USA only Product.
Okay how do I buy it?
You can buy one via ebay.com do a seller search and look for contourpillow
How much did it cost?
About £45 including delivery (the £ is very strong v's $). I was not charged import tax.
How long did it take to come?
10 days
And exactly how much hassle is all that?
No hassle at all - Look down the eBay page and set the shipping country to united kingdom- login with your UK ebay userid and pay via pay pal. Then wait a few weeks!
Returns?
Well I suspect they do take them - but my plan was if I didn't like it - to sell it on in the UK (pillow case washed)!
If anyone knows of a UK link then please advice.
