    Just be careful!

It's not the end that connects to the battery it is the plug that goes into any Resmed machine, I had to buy the proper power unit to run my APAP on a 12v supply. I thought the cigarette lighter lead would do the job, I plugged it in, heard a pop and the APAP wouldn't work on the mains or 12v supply, phoned Resmed and spoke to tech dept, the guy straight away said "you've plugged it into a 12v supply that is not made by Resmed, the internal fuse has blown and has to be replaced by Resmed".
So my fellow hoseheads, if it's Resmed be very careful it makes for a lot of messing about if you get the connection wrong, been there, got the t'shirt etc, etc.
    Best wishes.
    Alex.
Out of interest and information, I bought a power start battery pack to power my APAP on 12v, it was a fairly expensive high powered one, and have the correct Resmed 12v power supply, this unit smoothes the power reduction of the battery and prevents the battery from becoming conpletely exhausted, which causes damage to lead acid batteries. I get about 3 seven to eight hour sessions from the powerpack, and when not in use for APAP duties, it's available to use starting cars in the winter should it be needed.

Yes, I know of at least a dozen cases where people blew up their Ozzie ResMed weird-polarity machine. That's why we state clearly on the Super CPAP Battery Pack page to get the official ResMed DC Converter cable. Anyhow, it's always best to get at least the official cable. Warranty issues become a lot less confusing that way.

I am surprised that there is no "reverse polarity protection" fitted to the DC input
