  • I admit defeat ......

........ and ask for help from REMstar 'M' Series heated humidifier users.

I cleaned my humidifer chamber this morning and it looks like new again, as always - except for that #*#*#* annular groove!!!

If you hold the chamber vertically, as if filling, I'm talking about the lower, shorter tube (I've never bothered to work out if it is inlet or outlet - must be inlet). From the open (connector) end, it goes down, 90 degree bend and then is fitted into a boss attached to the chamber body. Probably there is a stub on the body that fits inside the boss and the inlet (?) pipe fits into the other end of the boss. However it is configured, there is a very narrow annular groove inside the boss, between the stub and the pipe - or there is in mine, at least.

I can't get a brush to that groove because of the 90 degree bend on one side and a support strut on the other, inside the chamber.

Vinegar, Milton, de-scaler have all failed to shift the brown line that is the groove full of something - algae, I suspect. It is inaccessible to mechanical cleaning that I can devise.

Does anyone else have the problem? and has anyone found a way to clean out the groove?

I don't want to drill and plug the chamber wall to give access but I'm beginning to think I'll have to!! Help!!!

Hello, I'm afraid I know nothing of humidifiers but my consultant (here in France) thinks I should have one. Must be honest I don't seem to have too many problems but I am very interested in the cleaning issues.

I don't suppose an ear bud might work - that was always my nearly last resort cleaning the shower tracking. I did try looking up the machine but all this terminolgy is still a bit strange to me.

Have you tried questioning the manufacturing company? A design fearure, I fear!!!

I don't have one, but would a pipe cleaner work?

        Still down and out

Thanks for your suggestions. Those plus paper clips, inter-dental brushes, SinuPulse Elite hydro-blasting in addition to chemical warfare have all failed.

I'm beginning to think if the 'stuff' can resist that lot, it isn't about to jump up and attack me in the middle of the night.

And anyway, why won't my new netbook send to print wirelessly. Maybe it needs hydro-blasting?

Nothing like a sense of humour to see us through eh!

I can sympathise with your wifi problem. Had that myself a couple of weeks ago, but it's all sorted now. Had to un-install wifi hub and printer, reinstall hub then reinstall printer, then hey presto it all worked.
          Kind regards, Tricia

Nothing like a CPAP forum for good computer advice!

              Hi Tricia

Thanks for reminding me to go back to basics. Plus I had to remember the printer is LAN connected to the router so the netbook needed to be set up for LAN connection to the printer - and then use wireless to the router!

Succcess was rewarded by a 'nearly out of ink' message from the black cartridge.

              But we did it!
