  • What is the best hose cover?

    Hi All,

I'm pretty sure that I need to buy a hose cover to prevent rain-out.
I want to get one that provides real insulation rather than just looks
like a cozy cover. What brand do you recommend?

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

It's more about the material than the brand.

If you really want to solve rainout, get a universal heated hose. You may have to import one from Australia if you can't find one in the US.

In terms of the wraps, there's the single layer fleece ones, like we do, which are the most common and perhaps indeed most basic forms. Others have gone the extra mile and picked material like 3M's Thinsulate or other fabric with high insulation properties. So keep an eye out on what it's made from.

      hello Steve

I got the aussie heated hose and have only one complaint..It is warm in the summer time..No rainout ever..Well worth the price..The other complaint people have is the noise of the machine..I run a fan at night for background noise so the noise doesn't bother me..My partner's complaint is"You're blowing air on my back".HA!HA!..But,better than the thunderous snoring at night that would shake the house and keep the neighbors up all night!!HA!HA! So..A bit of a trade off..

        Sleepster!

Why oh! why do you use the heated hose in summer?

I do just fine with a hose sheath in summer time - more for noise abatement and easy washing than anything. Or are summer so cold where you live?

Come to think of it, Les uses a heated hose in summer - I think he got rain-out from compression but that can only have been during humid nights, surely?
