  • Problems with water chamber

I've just had to ask my sleep clinic for a new water chamber. I was given 2 in April when I started to use a CPAP. Both now have horrible white lumpy deposits on the metal bottom and brown marks that look like scorch marks. I must admit that I have used tap water from time to time and once I used Milton without noticing that you're not supposed to use it on metal. Would either of these have caused the problems?

    Hi Poppy,

The white lumpy bits will be limescale deposits that build up, just like in your kettle.

Best thing to do is clean the reservoir weekly by filling it with a white vinegar and water mixture (1 part vinegar to 3 parts water), leaving it to do it's thing for an hour and then rinsing thoroughly. Will come up lovely and shiny and ready for another week.

I boil my tapwater, let it cool down and then run it through a Brita filter and although I've only been using my humidifier since I bought my Sandman Auto at the end of May it is currently spotless
    Regards, GV
