I paid to have a 2 night home study which came back that I have moderate sleep apnea with a 18.6 AHI reading.
I received an email saying that I have sleep apnea and the detailed results of the machine. But it also said that it's not a prescription.
I've spoke to the person and they said they can offer a care package, the machine, humidifier and a mask plus mask assesment for £1200.
The cpap machine is the lowenstein prisma soft. I've done a bit of research and the soft machine isnt an automatic machine and needs to be set to the correct pressure unlike the prsma smart which is automatic.
Part of the packagepack they measure my face for the right mask then when I receive the machine I'll have a meeting on zoom to set it up and then I do weekly check ups for 4 weeks and get any support needed for 30 days which is good but seems expensive. Also everything is uploaded to the clinic and they adjust if needed.
From what I read a lot of the new cpap machines, you just turn them on and away you go so I cant understand why I will need the care.
I'm not sure with the results I've been given are good enough to buy a cpap machine online or whether they will be good enough to get a free machine on the NHS.
I do want to get it sorted asap but by going with the clinic I feel that I will be locked onto what they want me to do. The only offer 2 machines.
Just seems a lot of money when I can just buy a resmed airsense 10 which is automatic and cheaper overall.
What would you guys do?
The reason I paid £250 for a 2 night test is because of the waiting times on the NHS.
Also do you think the price is fair considering it's not even a automatic machine.
Thanks
