The good news is: yes, you can take some steps yourself while waiting. Many people in similar situations have rented or even purchased CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machines privately to get started. It's not ideal without clinical guidance, but given your AHI, starting treatment sooner rather than later could really help with your symptoms.
