  • Philips cpap air pressure too high?

Hello I recently had my hospital review of machine usage and during this visit the pressure was adjusted to 12.5 with the ramp at 4 to start. However the pressure is so strong it constantly is a struggle to use and I note I can’t adjust. The nurse says the pressure has to be this high but it seems so pointless to have the machine if it forces so much pressure that I can’t breath with it during the night.

Must be a familiar issue but what counter measures are available? I have the heated tube, humidifier etc, it just seems the settings are set based on my test but not what is actually practicable for me to use each night with what I perceive to be a need for a lower pressure,

I have a full face mask with some sinus issues and an overbite so I appreciate the nhs machine but I find it’s not really customisable regards the pressure settings as the nurse says if the pressure drops from 12.5 it won’t be of any use. Is it feasible to have a lower pressure and improve the opportunity to use more frequently?
    thanks Doogie

    Good Morning,

    Thank you for your post.

Can I ask how long the ramp is set on your machine? This can be adjusted to allow the pressure to ramp from 4cmh20 to 12.5cmh20 for a longer period, which would then allow you to get to sleep.

If the pressure is too much and you are struggling with your machine then you would need to contact the hospital to see what they advise.
