A couple of nights ago I actually had like 10 to 15 episodes of trying to fall asleep and like 2 minutes later Im gasping for air scaring myself to death! I tried it again and again but the same thing happened to me. I knew I couldnt fall asleep so i was doing some research online and found out that that was sleep apnea and now Im afraid! This has happened to me before but It seems like it happens when Im under stress or my anxiety kicks in...I dont know if this is something I should take seriously or not..Please help! Thank you

I doubt you have 'sleep apnea' ... you MUST be asleep to have an 'apnaic event' ... what you are describing is an 'anxiety disorder' ... and you need to see a 'mental health provider' to have a 'thorough evaluation' of your 'mental health' to find out what kind of anxiety disorder it is so it can be 'treated properly.'
As for 'worrying' about whether you have sleep apnea, you can simply go to see a 'sleep disorder specialist' and talk to that doctor, and you may be 'scheduled' for a 'sleep test' (you spend the night in the hospital, 'wired up' to test your 'breathing' and your heart beat and other things ... and if you have sleep apnea, you can get 'proper treatment' after you are 'diagnosed' with sleep apnea.

It is to be taken very serious, I hate to worry you even more, but you can pass in your sleep from this. I was tested overnite for sleep apnea and I have it, when I lost a little weight I saw that I didnt have it anymore(so I think) My husband said I used to sound like I was choking to death in my sleep.
My grandma had it and she had to have the CPAP machine. You should really go to the overnight testing for sleep apnea if you can. They will hook you up to all these wires and listen to ya all night.
Its not comfortable, but really important to do.

To answer the question, "Do I have sleep apnea?" I made this website which determines, by means of a set of questions, whether or not you are likely to suffer from Sleep Apnea:
Online Sleep Disorder Test
That should give you a good idea about whether you suffer from the tell-tale symptoms or not. If you do, (even if you don't) I recommend you go see a doctor about this.
