Hi All! I'm Willow and I'm new to this place, I was only diagnosed yesterday! The doc said I have OSA and MSA and Hypopnoea, with about 80 "incidents" an hour - sounds kind of scary:eek:! Last night I slept with my CPAP for the first time (a Philips Respironics Auto, with the full face mask). I woke a few times in the night and realised that my breathing was still very shallow. I also noticed that air was coming out of where the little black flap comes out, so the pressure didn't feel very strong. Is this right:confused:? The flap always stays up, but air still comes out - the flap looks flat and fine but I'm worried because I still feel exhausted today. I'm still young and otherwise in good shape, but as this thing is getting worse I'm worried. Please Advise!
Thanks:D:

Do I take my apap on holiday?

For taking it:
I get a much improved nights sleep and am in a better mood for it. I only wake a couple of times in the night.

Flor leaving it at home:
It is heavy, takes up much valuable space.
I cannot use it in Amazon so for one week out of the 4 it will be useless.
I cannot use it on the long haul flight.
I wake up every 45 mins throughout the night.

HELP !!

My first two posts, which took me ages to type, have been stuck in moderation limbo for a couple of days. I've asked Tom and James to rescue them. Can anyone give me any clues as to why they went into moderation instead of appearing on the forum immediately? Are there some rules I might have broken? I can't find any.

It's just a bit frustrating - all I was trying to do was help people who are new to CPAP and obviously in distress.

I'm talking REALLY lightweight - so I can go cycle-camping with it. :)

Now that the BreatheX has been discontinued (why??) the only one I can find is the Transcend II. But when it becomes available in the UK it's likely to cost £800 with a one night battery or £1000 with a two night battery, according to Darren at Intus. Are there any other choices? Maybe a second hand BreatheX is an option? Where's a good place to look for one?

Hi. I have only had my cpap machine for about 2 weeks, at first i kept taking it off at night and forgetting i had done it, woke up and it was turned off with the mask on the floor. Now i have got over that i have been waking up every night with the mask leaking at the top of my nose. No matter how i set the straps it wont help, some nights its fine but most of the time i give up after a few hours which is making me tired again during the day. Could it be that im not cleaning it right or something? any advice would be appreciated.

I started CPAP therapy in July 2009. So it is coming up to nearly three years now - and I would say that up to about 6 weeks ago I could count the number of times I had slept through with a mask on on my fingers. In that time I have spent hundreds of pounds on different masks and gone to bed nearly every night with a mask on - to rip it off 40 minutes or so later when I can't get to sleep with the thing on.

I have been at the point of just giving up - but about six weeks ago I started to use my Sleepweaver mask again - this has coincided with losing weight and cutting down alcohol markedly (at least 4 nights a week without - and only one or two drinks at weekend) I thought I was a mouth breather but I just told myself to keep my mouth shut - and suddenly, I don't know why or how, I began to sleep through every night for 7 or more hours! Checking my machine - my AHI count averages less than 2 ph and I don't breathe through my mouth at all. Do I feel wonderfully energised? Er no. But I do feel rested and as if I have had a good night's sleep.

So - why, after all this time, and bad experiences, it has begun to work for me I don't know. But it's worth keeping trying...

Hi,

I'm a newbie, and have only been using my Resmed S9 + humidifier for a week but I've come across a problem:(. During the night, my machine stops blowing air altogether which wakes me up. It does this a few times, until I restart it again.

Does this mean there's a problem, or is it meant to run until I turn it off ?

I started off using the nasal pillow mask, but now I'm wearing a full mask, as I breath through my mouth.

Any advice would be much appreciated :).
